How the Trident desktop app ensures unmatched security for your work.

Our daily work revolves around a variety of digital tools. From emails and chats to shared files and critical business data, everything is stored and exchanged online. That's why keeping work data secure isn’t just important—it’s a necessity. A single breach can shatter customer trust, delay operations, and lead to significant financial and legal consequences.

The risks are only growing. As our reliance on digital tools increases, so does our vulnerability. Recent studies highlight the growing urgency organizations place on privacy and security. According to IBM’s 2024 cost of a single data breach report, the average global cost of a data breach has surged to $4.88 million which is the highest total ever.

The impact is even more devastating for small businesses—60% of them shut down within six months of a cyberattack due to financial and reputational damage.

Zoho’s commitment to security and privacy

At Zoho, privacy and security are principles we’ve upheld for more than 25 years. As a privacy-first company, we focus on delivering solutions that make work easier while ensuring the highest level of security. We have never sold user data for advertising, nor have we profited from third-party ads—and we never will. This commitment defines how we build our products.

Trident is no exception. As a Zoho-built app, Trident provides a secure work platform for your organization so you can focus on getting work done while we handle security. As a powerful desktop application, Trident brings together all of the essential tools you need for a seamless, self-sufficient work experience—including chat, calls, tasks, calendar, notes, and more.

So, what makes Trident a secure choice for your business? Let’s dive into the features that keep your data protected.

App Lock for dedicated secure access.

We all tend to be extra cautious before sharing our screen while on a call. We usually find ourselves closing apps, minimizing windows, and double-checking what’s open to ensure nothing sensitive is exposed.

With App Lock in Trident, you don’t have to go through that routine. Once enabled, the app automatically locks after a set period of inactivity, ensuring that any sensitive data or work-in-progress information remains locked while you’re on a screen-share call. On Windows, you also have the option to manually lock the app whenever needed.

It’s just as useful beyond screen sharing. Say you’re focused on work when a colleague stops by for a quick chat. The conversation continues, and you’re away from your screen longer than expected. Locking your device may not be the first thing on your mind, but App Lock takes care of it automatically. Once your conversation wraps up, you can unlock Trident with your password or fingerprint and continue without interruption.

Data encryption for stronger protection.

While the App Lock prevents unauthorized access to the app, data encryption ensures that your data remains protected, whether it’s at rest (stored on your device or servers) or in transit (being sent between users or devices).

Encryption works like a coded message, turning your data into an unreadable format so that anyone trying to snoop won't be able to make sense of it. With Trident’s encryption, your data stays secure at every stage, ensuring privacy and protection no matter where it is.

Password-protected emails for confidential communication.

Emails sometimes contain highly confidential information—pay slips, client details, insurance records, contracts, and more. Once an email is sent, it can be forwarded, printed, or even accessed by the wrong person. SecurePass ensures that you stay in control of your sensitive emails, even after they’re sent.

While drafting an email, you can apply SecurePass and set an expiration date. To access the email, the recipient must enter a one-time password (OTP) sent via email. Even after gaining access, forwarding and printing are restricted to prevent unauthorised sharing. Once the email expires, the recipient can no longer open the link or view its content, making it ideal for time-sensitive information that doesn't need indefinite access.

Attachment scanning for threat-free file sharing.

Email attachments are like wrapped packages—you never truly know what's inside until you open or download them. While most contain important files, some can hide viruses or phishing attempts, waiting for just one careless click to wreak havoc.

In Trident, you get the same protection as Zoho Mail on the web. Antivirus scanning ensures that potentially harmful attachments never reach your mailbox. If a threat is detected, the email is bounced back to the sender, keeping your inbox safe and secure.

A safer work experience awaits.

With all of these features in place to keep your work data safe and secure, Trident isn't just another email application—it is an all-in-one, security-first solution for your business requirements. A platform where you can communicate, collaborate, and grow your business without compromise.
