What happens when a recurring payment fails?
If a recurring payment fails, the customer’s credit card will be retried automatically up to 3 times. To schedule these payment attempts:
- Click the Settings icon in the top right corner and select Retry Settings.
- Choose the number of days between each payment attempt and whether a reminder email needs to be sent to the customer. Failed recurring payments will be listed as ‘past due’ until the payment either goes through or the system exhausts all of its allotted attempts.
- If all retry attempts fail, the recurring payment will be marked either as ‘canceled’ or ‘unpaid.’
