What is Form W-9
Form W-9, known as Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification, is an IRS form used to verify a contractor’s identity and gather their Tax Identification Number (TIN). You can use this form to provide your TIN to someone who needs to report payments to the IRS, such as:
- Income paid to you
- Mortgage interest you paid
- Acquisition or abandonment of secured property
- Cancellation of debt
- Contributions you made to an Individual Retirement Account (IRA)
