My organization has only warehouses. How will migrating to locations affect it?
Scenario: Patricia’s organisation has five warehouses and no branches. When she migrates to the Locations feature in Zoho Books, she has two options to choose from. If she selects the Auto-Assign Location option, Zoho Books will automatically create one business location based on her organisation’s address, and all five warehouses will be added as warehouse locations under it. Alternatively, if she chooses one of the existing warehouses to be the primary business location during the migration, that warehouse will be converted into a business location, while the remaining four warehouses will become warehouse locations linked to it.
Once you migrate from Warehouses to Locations, you must create a new business location, as your organisation currently has no branches. The Locations feature introduces a hierarchical structure, where business locations act as parents and warehouse locations as children.
During the migration, you can either choose Auto-Assign Location, where Zoho Books automatically creates a new business location based on your organisation’s address and sets it as the primary business location, or Select From Existing Warehouse, where you select one of your current warehouses as the primary business location, and the remaining warehouses are converted into child warehouse locations.
After migration, all existing transactions will reflect the corresponding warehouse location. If inventory tracking is not enabled for an item, the business location of the transaction will be used as the warehouse location for the line items. Additionally, any previously configured automations, such as workflows or custom functions involving warehouses, must be reconfigured after migrating to the Locations feature.
